Help with braid!

I have bought 20 lb power pro braid in a 300 yard spool but i need to know is this enough to fill a spinning reel i think it is 5000 size , if not could i use a backing of mono or what are my other options???

easily, don't fill it up to the lip, leave it to 3-5 mm below, easier to cast and no wind knots.

Ok but it should be enough so to fill it?? Also should i connect the braid to the spool with a knot or i read somewhere with electrical tape?

20 lb power pro has a diameter of .009", compare this with your reels line capacity and if it is not filling it properly then I would definitely add mono backing, connect the lines with a double uni knot but having said that, it's a good idea to use some mono backing in any case to prevent the braid slipping on your spool, not necessary to tape the reel though, you only do this on a multiplier in order not to loose all your line in a bad birdie, only the line above the tape, the line underneath the tape will not be affected and you can continue fishing.

Very true no need to waste an entire spool of line, even with loading multi's.

I wouldn't put all on a single reel as suggested. Half the spool and put it on two reels or your spare spool. This way if you have a bad tangle or loose some braid you have a backup. You'll never need more that 150 Yards of braid for spinning of plugging, unless it's macks or pollock off a cliff

top tip!!!---- if you have two spools load one spool with half of the braid and then fill it with mono until you are happy about the height what you do then is take the spool off and transfer it to the other spool and bingo! braid at the right height.the problem is judging half of 300yds its tricky unless you have a big back garden

You might be able to half the braid spool in a Gaelic football field in a quite park or a empty beach. Just epmty the spool aroung the posts or a pole in the beach and you should be fine.
