Plenty of mullet have been caught at Kinnegar in Holywood. Plenty of mackerel getting caught at Carrick harbour and a few big congers lifted. Not heard anything about Ballyholme but its certainly worth a throw for Spurdogs.

Not messing you minty, there is still a fair number of spurs caught there. There is a forum member on here catches them regulary there, think his name is Paul. Hopefully he'll read this and post a reply. Belfast lough used to be full of them chum, you could catch them at Helen's bay and Kinnegar in Holywood. Still reckon you would get a few off "The point" in Holywood but it wouldn't be worth the bother with the Harbour police.

Seen a spur hooked and lost in the lough a few years ago. We still catch them in deep water outside the lough

Spurs are still in the lough Davy. Wish Paul was online to comment. People seem to rule out species being caught off certain marks because they haven't caught them. I agree the number of spurs in the lough has decended, but they are still there lads trust me.

There are some good places to fish within Belfast Lough both from the shore and on a boat.
If you are looking for mackerel they are almost everywhere at the minute.
I have heard though that they are in the process of dredging inside the lough which could explain why a couple of the marks (without naming any or those who fish there too would kill me) that have been fishing well up to now have now all of sudden fallen out of favour with very little fish showing or being caught.
It should pick up again once the dredging has stopped and everything settles down.
I tried a mark a couple of nights ago for the mullet which has up to now fished well but there was virtually no sign of them.
I'll just keep going and having a look to see if they show up.
As for ballyholme, it's very very hit and miss, more miss than hit

Dan,
There are plenty of good marks inside the lough, you just have to go out and try different places and be prepared to lose some terminal tackle. Have had bullhuss to 7lb and pollack to 6lb recently off various rock marks. Also seatrout showing but yet to hook into one of them.
i get by with a little help from my friends.

Dan- There is a good mark at a place called Whitehead. It is the opposite side from Bangor- not too far past carrickfergus. It is a bit of a walk along a 1 mile path. But can be well worth it. I have heard of Huss being caught there. But as usual it does take you to walk a little to get to a good mark, probably what deters off ejit's from fishing. There is plenty of whiting all year round and wrase around now. Also backed up by a some nice pollock arounrd 2 - 2 1/2 lb (i have had bigger). If you want directions give me a shout.
