best trace setup for smoothound

im going fishing on 1st to the 8th of august to catch my first smoothound ,,looking for tips on wat rig to use ,,ill be using peeler,mack,sandeel,and squid ,any opinions welcome thanks lads

3/0 Pennel Pulley will see you starting in the right direction mate, and increase your snood strenght if there are Spider crabs around.

agree with denis crab all the way but i use a 2/0 single hook pulley it has never let me down yet

Rag tipped with crab can be a good combination as well. pulley rigs are probably the best option but you can also use an up and over trace which will keep your bait close to the sea bed. i use size 2/0 to 4/0 depending on the size of the bait im putting out and always make sure the hook point is showing and not buried in the bait.
