Report:

Only getting round to posting report now due to work etc.
We booked a weekend in Inches House with John Angles. I can fully recommend them if you intend to head down that way. Great service & very comfortable cottages. The plan was to fish the rocks during the day, and hit the beach during the night. Following the advice of john, we headed down to a nice deep rock mark on the Saturday morning. Problem was that, being beach anglers, we were not geared up for the very rough ground at the mark. The Kelp must be crossed with Kevlar! Eventually managed to get sorted and took a couple of Wrasse, all quite small.
Headed back out after a feed & decided to try the pier at Allihes. This is a fine venue; we were able to drive right down onto the pier and shelter behind the Jeep. This spot produced several strap conger to 10Lb, all taken on frozen mac heads. We ended up with 5 between us. Junior managed to snatch a nice coalie on float gear, having popped a glow light above his hook. Ended the session with a surprise, a fish hit my lug bait like an express train, the rod nearly went over the edge and I had a fine fight. Reeled in expecting a small bass, however it turned out to be a Red Mullet. I had it weighed the following morning and it was just over 1Lb, hell of a fight for such a small fish.
The following day was a washout due to the strong onshore wind making fishing both uncomfortable & dangerous on the rocks. Tried spinning at Dursey Sound, but blanked. Ended up back at Allihes pier that night & took several more conger & wrasse.
Beara is a fine venue, if you are correctly geared up for it & well worth the 6 hour drive down on a Bank Holiday Friday!!

All fish, bar the Red Mullet were returned to fight another day.

Well done on the Red Mullet, now there is a species that you don't see caught here very often and a specimen one at that. :) I think that this might be one of those species where they look for you to send in the actual body with your claim, I'm not sure though.
