Dodger, Dun Laoghaire July 5th

#1 Post by alby »

People:me, brockle & rick

Duration:too long....4 hours

Tide:against the wind

Weather: south / south west force 4 - 6

Bait:crab, mack & rag

Rigs:stupid boat ones with beads & blades everywhere

Results:huss, mackeral, dogs, smoothies, BIG HADDOCK

Report:How I love shore fishing

Went out with the lads early Sunday morning. Getting to the mark we wanted to fish was like a rollercoaster ride without a seatbelt, no fun to say the least!!!

The swells were building and tide turning against the wind which made being at anchor slightly uncomfortable, caught some huss and dogs at the first mark but it got a little hairy and we headed closer to home.

Mark 2 we caught some lovely smoothies on crab aswell as dogs and a massive shoal of mackeral with thousands of birds working overhead. I have to say I didn't enjoy it because i was feeling ill pretty much the whole time (didn't vom though!!!), looking forward to getting back out in calmer weather :D

Although check out this little beauty, I think you boat anglers call it a "Haddock" or some such. 12lb it was in old money -

that's a fine fish alby, making me jealous
my mates (who like pints! :) ) take "sea legs" the night and morning before
they go on the boat. they make a difference for the trip on the boats.
species 2009, whiting :(, three beard rockling,.shore rockling, 5 beard rockling, flounder, lesser spotted dogfish,bullhuss, dab,bass(13), more whiting : pollock,poorcod,pouting, sea trout(the dodder!)brown trout,sea scorpion,mackerel, silver eel,
topknot:), cod, conger, corkwing wrasse, smooth hound.
