Clare Dragoon, Carrigaholt, July 4th 2009

#1 Post by jd »

People:JD,JW,Tomaszek, Karl, Muireann

Duration: 9am-6pm

Tide: In at 5ish

Weather: Southerly breeze stiffening up during the day, some showers

Bait:Mac,rag,sandeel etc

Rigs: Various, flowing traces for top

Results:
Tope,Huss,whiting,cuckoo wrasse,ballan wrasse,pollack,haddock, poor cod,dogs

Report:Picked up some mackeral off loop head, then went to the wrasse mark near the head. We then tried a few drifts north of the loop. THe southerly meant we were pushing along quickly so we anchored up. Had a nice steady stream of fish, hard to avoid the whiting! WE moved to the Beal at about 3 and we ,managed to land 3 tope, with a few more dropped.

great fishing men, congratulations on the sharks and the nice pictures - you might be spot on there with the Albacores John, seems to be some big predators hunting beneath the surface, maybe next time, hope water temperatures keep rising, expect to get my car back today so I'm all set.
