Report: Rang mga to see if he fancied heading out to North Connemara on Wednesday with myself and frenchvisitor he said he couldn't make it but was planning heading out tonight so with that i agreed to keep him company.... arrived to find the sea like a mirror not even a ripple on it which wasn't good MIDGES thousands of the little scuts made for a very uncomfortable session i now look like i should be in an isolation ward Anyway got set up and we'd planned spinning and floating for pollack and wrasse but the midges put paid to that idea.... mga was first in with a little thornie followed by another two before i got off the mark then mga was in again no size to them but nice to see them some of them hit very hard for little fellas then on the last cast i got another wee fella would've been a perfect evening with a hint of a breeze to keep the midges away and put a bit of movement on the water.... any good news for frenchvisitor there's plenty of Ray around for Wednesday's sesion

Little scuts ??? That's not what you were calling them a couple of hours ago
The makeshift Legionnaires' hats were the only available semi-defence against the nonstop onslought. Don't forget to bring your mosquito nets tomorrow night, assuming the little scuts can find some unbitten skin on ya
Dont let anyone see you doing this but a pair of fine denier tights worn over the head and face will keep the little feckers at bay. You may look like something out of crimewatch and quite what the shop assistant will think of you going in and being picky about the type of tights you want is a small price to pay. It works. Top tip, do not "borrow" a pair from the laundry basket, anything worn by a sweaty lady is in no fit state to be worn next to the face. Yes, womens feet stink too.....

Don't put your head down as far as the feet!!!
Nice fishing Conor and Martin.

bought a couple of these hats here recently, highly recommended, especially my poor kids seemed to suffer more from midget attacks than myself but since they wear the mosquito hats now they are much happier to accompany me for a trout session in the evening. http://cgi.ebay.ie/Robinson-Hut-Moskito ... 7C294%3A50

Jeez lads, ye sound like ye are fairly experienced at wearing ladies tights
By the way Conor, if you bring your tights tonight, will you get a few pics? I'm sure the lads would like to see them (just to ensure you're using them correctly)

Despite the torture , an enjoyable little session
Tip from sister in law in Puerto Rico is to use a spray of listerine (yeah - the mouthwash!!! )
totally puts them little feckers off and leaves you bite free
She swears it works - try it out - youve nothing to lose
and if nothing else at least youll smell minty fresh
mga wrote:Got the usual bug repellant spray today - never did like their smell! Must try the listerine spray. Never heard that one before! Good one
