baile ath claith 21-6-09

#1 Post by roger de dodger »

People:me deric lad shamoo and al

Duration:8 till 2

Tide:rise and dropp

Weather:warm and humid

Bait:rag lug crab and lures

Rigs:lots

Results:3 bass and one mullet

Report:with tide moon and weather perfect hopes where high of a few fish and with plenty of fish showing on the surface and lots of fish jumping nerves where well frayed :? eric and the lads set up their rods as the tide began to fill .I set up a light rod and reel with the baitrunner popped it in the tripod set up an eight foot spinning rod and stuck on a kilty lure with hopes of tagging a bass  after following a shoal of fish 300 yards i finally got a stonkin take and a mighty fight 8) and was shocked and delighted to land my first ever MULLET   After a quick snap he went back well :) the only problem now was eric had run off with my rod and wasnt giving it back
so out with a second rod ,but before i had the rod and reel put together i noticed eric tripod just about to flip and head sea wards, ran over and pulled into a good fish, played him for a while till eric got up to me and then left the honours to the kid, nice 6 lber landed 8) noticed erics second rod had a slackish line and was weeded up with flounder knocks at the rod tip got down to pull of all the weed and nearly got pulled over  as the line went seawards another bass 5lb ish 8) had been fishing for 1.5 hours at this stage without a smoke  busy busy, rebaited my rod sat down to roll a fag and wollop away went my rod another bass this time about 40 cm .

The next few hours barley got us a nibble we fished a few hours of the drop for which a got rewarded with a nice flounder :D of about 32 cm ,by this time eric was packing up so seen as he had work this morning i took pity on him and brought him home  .

did get one good laugh when a fella with his two kids who was observing our endevours told eric he had a great colour and must spend alot of time outdoors    i did turn away so they couldnt see me laughing

My 4th night out in a row and boy am I feeling it today, tired isnt the word with 4 late nights and 3 days digging.

3rd night in a row at this mark, guess I was due a blank, was getting taps of flounder most of the evening on my huge bass baits, but resisted the temptation to downsize my hooks.

Great to see Roger pop his mullet cherry, and a fine fish too.

I had always knew they were in the area, but didnt know how to target them.........I do now !!!

Welldone eric on 2 fine bass
