Duration, 2200-0100:

Tide, lw at about 2300ish:

Weather, clear skies, no wind no surf:

Bait, fresh razor, lug and rag tipped with squid:

Rigs, 1 up 1 downs, size 2's:

Results, 1 Bass, 57cms, 3lb 15oz, 1 small flounder:

headed back to the beach where i had the few Bass the night before armed with the same baits and some fresh black lug. set up with 2 rods and lobbed out just lug and rag tipped with squid till it got dark but nothing showing. as it was getting dark i started putting on razor on the top hooks hoping the Bass would be on the feed again. nothing for a while till about 2330 when the rod to the right went bang. i thought it was a really good fish till i lifted into it but he put up a good scrap on the light rod. got it in to find a tiny flounder on the bottom hook and a nice Bass on the top. another 1st for me. took care of the Bass first. measured him, quick weight and photo and back he went with a strong kick of its tail. the flounder wasnt so lucky. he was very deeply hooked and after a while i realised i wasnt getting the hook out without killing it so put him out of its misery. i felt really guilty about it. i wouldnt have minded if i was gonna eat it or use it for bait but i told myself that something would eat it.
it went quiet for a while but got another good knock and lifted into another fish. i saw it break the water but lost it soon after that. nothing else showing so left at around 0100.

the Bass was 57cms and came in at 3lbs 15oz. i had another Bass here the night before that was also 57cms but weighted 4lbs 12oz. nearly a lb of a difference on the same length fish. :

well done on the double,nice looking bass
big difference in the weight of the 2 bass at the same length,after seeing the other discussions about specimen fish on the site and the talk of taking measurements of the fish to calculate the weight of the fish it might be hard get the right weight of the fish just by measurement

Nice one red,youre on a real role now,keep up the effort.Pity about the flounder but don't let it bother you,as the same happened to me a good few times in the past.But the last while not as much thanks to a real handy gaget.Check out the post regarding unhooking deep hooked flat fish it will def help,but it won't work for them all.

cheers for the comments lads,
i have one of the gemini disgorgers but couldnt free the hook. i usually find if their deep hooked its easier to get it out under the gills, cut the knot and re-tie it again as its saves them a lot of discomfort but the bigger flats are usually a bit easier.
as for the roll im on, im making up for lost time. i spent enough time blanking.
