Garron Point, Co. Antrim 20-06-2009

#1 Post by rab01 »

People:Me and Tommy

Duration:9am-12.30pm

Tide:Mostly dropping

Weather:Windy, the odd shower

Bait:Ragworm

Rigs:Sliding float

Results:Plenty of Pollock and Wrasse

Report:Been a while since we fished this mark but it has always been good to us in the past. Arrived to see a few boys just leaving, said they only caught one small pollock. A wee bit disheartened from this we setup and to my surprise I was in straight away, a small pollock. Confidence restored we both racked up a good tally of fish, all pollock and wrasse. Didn't keep count but could possibly have caught 30 fish between us, unfortunately majority were on the small side. Biggest pollock 1 1/2 pound and biggest wrasse roughly a pound. Despite most fish being on the small side they kept us busy so we were happy enough.

You'll certainly get plenty of wrasse at Garron Minty, you can't fail. Youngrod we had plenty of sport with the pollock, me and Tommy always fish with a light rod for them so any size fish puts up a scrap. This mark does produce the bigger fish but sadly today they didn't show.
