Bass South Dublin 17/06/09

#1 Post by cormology »

People : Me:

Time : 7pm-10.30pm:

Tide : High 7ish:

Weather : Mild:

Bait : Lug:

Rigs : 1 hook:

Result : 1 Bass:

Decided to get a session this evening after work as hadn't been out in a good while.
Popped down to a local spot at about 7ish, tide was just turning. Few small bites early on nothing to show for it. Just before 10pm had a good thump, rod pulled out of the stand, it swam straight for the shore so landed it handy enough luckily as there was a lot of weed on the edge of the shore, nice bass about 6lb i'd say 65cm a good solid fish. Took lug worm on a 4/0 hook, up and over rig. As a matter of interest there was two seals working the area as well for the evening. Great session lovely fish

Have to agree with Eric here, I would have thought more 7 or close to eight. Always hard to tell from a photo but I have seen many an angler post a "Double fig bass" post with a pic like that...! :-)

Cheers for the comments lads, i was just guessing the weight as had no scales to weight it, it is possibly that it was more than 6lb alright. Nice fish all the same and nice to see them that size up this way also.

nice fish there. i bet it got the heart pumping.
according to the uk Bass measure(as i dont know of an Irish one) that was posted here a while back it puts a 64cm Bass at 6lb and a 66cm one at about 6lb 8oz but says to add/minus 10% for the condition of the fish. id say you could easily add the 10% as it looks a nice fat fella so roughly about 7lb 1 or 2oz??
congrats to ya.
