I know a guy who caught a 55 or 57lb tope from the shore in south galway bay in the early 90's I think. Havent heard of one better than that.

There is no separation between Boat and Shore records. I think it currently stands at 67lb.

Tanx fro the reply, but in 1979 on Carlingford Lough, a 66lb8oz fish was landed and this was from the boat and i was wondering if there was a divide between the Boat ad Shore Record, guess not as another SAI member points out below. Tanx again....

I didnt know that there wasnt a divide between the Shore and Boat record, another SAI member just pointed out that there isnt, which i think is rubbish... But we were a little way off, just under 10lb.. We landed a tope last night 55lb 5oz.. Was chuffed for my m8 and still am, best fish we will ever land, brill day :D

No problem at all....a 55lb fish, is still a cracking fish no matter what.

Well done on the catch. The ISFC are limited in their resources and a seperate list would be difficult to enforce. I could imagine lads launching a punt into an Esturay for a bigger flounder for example.

You would be surprised at the amount or Record / Specimen fish that are caught off the Shore. Perhaps for one or two species their could be an exception, but it would be a difficult rule to support fully, without even more rules for a fish claim.
