Cobh 12th & 13th July

#1 Post by mickeyfish »

People:EFSA Ireland

Duration: 6 Hours Sat & Sun

Tide: Fishing the ebb

Weather: Glorious

Bait:Rag & Mackeral

Rigs:Shop bought, Gilling traces and 1 up 1 down beads and blades

Results:Pollack, Cod, Ling, whiting, pouting, grey & red Gurnard, mackeral, Coalfish, Megrim, Angler fish, poor Cod, dogfish, Conger, both species of wrasse, and im sure there was one or 2 others.

Report: 26 anglers took part in the weekend using the local charter boats, who were excellent, i Fished with Alan Kennedy on Lagosta 2, he was constantly keeping us on fish made a great cuppa and was well armed with the net ready to secure a lot of big fish, fishing was fantastic with great numbers of decent fish coming in, all the usual rigs worked well, but i noticed a few of us were using luminous leads bought up in a Dublin tackle shop that seemed to be catching a lot more than those without,

one of the highlights of the weekend fell to paul robinson landing an angler fish, funny enough on a shamrock tackle rig

well done to the lads behind the scene's very well run event, thanks

Yeh, it was a fantastic weekend, always a pleasure to fish Cork. And as Mick said Alan Kennedy on Lagosta 2 was a total gentleman, he knew everyones name within minutes of being onboard, kept the tea/coffee flowing all days, and was always on hand to help when needed, one of the best skippers I've fished with!
