north down mullet 14/6/09

#1 Post by colin c »

People:Davy Murdoch and myself

Duration:a few hours

Tide:up and over

Weather:nice,nasty,nice nasty etc

Bait:bread

Rigs:float

Results:mullet

Report:
Took Davy out with me today to try and get him a mullet as he seems to be having trouble catching lately
Waded out to get a bit of a bread trail going.Seen a few mullet, nothing amazing but as we looked about we could see a serious amount of fish further out to our right,so waded out about 300 yards to meet the fish.Almost from the start they were taking bread and both of us missed a few with me losing one shortly after. Then it was all ruined by torrential rain, thunder, lightning and me getting shocks off my rod  So we started wading back to shore, couldnt see the bottom with the rain beating off the surface which is when i tripped on a rock and went flying and only just stopped myself going for a swim much to the delight of Davy who found it that hilarious he said a bit of pee came out he was laughing that hard.
Anyway had a smoke and waited for the rain to stop and back out we went.Davy was first into a fish with me hooking one about 10 seconds later and the fun began trying to keep the two fish away from each other.5 minutes later Davy lost his :(  which was followed by some absolutely disgusting language  Not one to gloat i asked him to net mine which he did and it was a fish of about 4lb.Hectic fishing from then on with fish hitting and pushing our floats about then Davy hooked another which he managed to land this time,a fish of about 3lb.Serious amouts of bites after that and another couple of fish lost then the rain came pelting down again.Time for me to head and left Davy to sit the weather out and have another go.
Didnt get any photos today due to the fact we were so far from shore.

Well done Colin (& Davy).
Now I know why you go fishing with Davy, so you have someone to net your fish for you!!
Hope he doesn't read this, if he does, I hope he can take a joke :D (Sorry Davy)
