Ballan or Corkwing Wrasse ??

Can anyone tell from the picture if this is a Ballan or Corkwing Wrasse

It had really bright colours around the head but the picture doesnt do it justice,

Definately a corkwing wrasse mate

no probs man, wrasse can come in a lot of varying colours even if they are the same species. generally the corkwing will have a small black spot at the tail but not always and it will have the bluey green wavy lines on its lower jaw/gill cover. ballan can be a variety of colours but are usually a brown/ green/ or both or blotchy. biggers ones can be dark red with lots of small bluey/green spots. :wink:

plenty of pics on the site as to the variety of colours theyve been caught in.
