Was the rod in a car for a long period probably caused by the sun through the window, just try a keep the rods away from the windows with direct sun on them.

Ive had this prob in the past, heat/moisture/a sudden drop or rise in temp can cause it to swell, try a very light rub of a fine wet n dry that sort it out.

Lets hope it happens to both rods in the next comp, give the rest of us a slightly better chance of picking up a prize

it could have been a build up of carbon, dirt, etc, wash both parts of the joint with warm soapy water using a toothbush or a bottle washer, dry well, if it still sticks then a little reel grease will help, but make sure to keep the joint sand free or it acts like sandpaper and the joint will become too loose

Here's my twopence worth!!! the carbon used in the more expensive rods is hi-grade and the spigots are prone to ingesting moisture which in turn swells the joint. The rod manufacturers know about this problem? There is not a lot you can do about it other than try and dry it out.
Taking sandpaper to it at this stage could end in tears
Kstaff has always been the new black in my eyes anyway!!!!!!!
