Report:we went out on the helms boat from westport, steamed out up the coast towards louisburgh chasing mackies, they were a bit thin on the ground with only the odd one coming in.austin the skipper had told us that the charter the day before had only caught one so he had brought some frozen ones but near old head we hit a good size shoal and the fun began it only lasted ten miniutes, but the full houses were coming in fast, got so wrapped up in the madness i forgot to take a bloody picture we were also getting small pollock and coalies on each drift so some of the boys were clocking up there species list!we wont mention any names john. the banter was good and every one was happy except brian who had turned up without rain gear and at this stage was soaked!! Austin then tried to drop anchor but the weather and swells were so bad it took three attempts for the anchor to get a grip! we were looking for ray and huss but im afraid the fishing went downhill fast with only a few doggies being landed in the next few hours we moved to another mark but it was more of the same with just a few doggies being landed!by five the skipper decided twas time to go home! even though the fishing was not great the craic was good.and it was nice to meet some new faces from the site some of the boys had driven down, so were not able to join us for the session after in the helm lads ye missed a great night with free food thrown in from the helm a great night was had but was feeling a bit rough this morning!!
