codling at dalkey

helped 3 lads launch there boat in howth this morning they had been at dalkey yesterday said they had filled a box of good sized codling and a few pollock the best days fishing they had since last year but no mackeral was got
maybe things are looking up in dublin bay

Did they say what mark they fished, bait etc. Going out there tomorrow.

List 2011: less fish

2012: less fish again,

2013: even less fish.

they said they kept drifting the sound and out the back of the island

Thanks for that Twinkle. I've had three small codling from the Pier at Collimore in the laste few weeks. They were very small though and thankfully all c&r. Will let you know how I get on.

howya twinkle it was good to meet you on the slip today in howth, we only managed a couple of macks ourselves out of the island but good to get out all the same :lol:

might not be for much longer if lads are filling up boxes :shock:
unless it was a lunch box or something like that :mrgreen:

i was out yesterday after macks got a few codling aswell the type that would hang over each end of a lunchbox quite easily :wink:

Taking a box of cod isnt really on and after this post every boat in Dublin will be out there :(

these lads dident look like they cared much for catch and release said it was there first time out since last year mind you dident see any box on the boat an they were in howth again to day came in with a nice ling and 3 macks

Hi Twinkle,

While waiting to get out from Dalky yesterday I mentioned to the Boat lady that I had heard that a box of cod had been taken the other day. She said that that was the first she had heard about it, or words to that effect, "like &$£% they did," "load of $%^&*^£ *&^%$," Bunch of total $£"^&%$." Maybe they didn't launch from Dalky. There were a few fish there all right but no macks and some smallish pollock.

i think they launched at colimore its a 16ft with acuddy they were going out of howth sat and there was a dredger in the channel they dident see the rope hold
ing the dredger nearly wrecked there prop they pulled there way back along the rope only to find the coastguard
waiting for them ticking them off for being stupid and also for not wearing lifejackets
