Re: mustad Super Deluxe Tripod
Im using one of these,
Find it very good on sand and gravel type surfaces. Holds well and allows you to get your line nice and high above the water to get ya past weed or any rockey patches. Make sure and carry some wd-40 with ya though as the fittings get quite stiff if you keep it in one position for a few sessions and then want to change it for another. Great range of heights to use all in all. Very stable. Have had a bull huss take bait when rod was on this and it held very well for the bite, didn't move an inch.
Folds well and is nice and light for carrying.
Would recommend,
thats just my two cents,
hope it helps, if there is anything else ya wanna know just ask!!
Steve

Re: mustad Super Deluxe Tripod
hi gf
this is the tripod i use in my galway set up - it is really sturdy - great for testy windy conditions - can handle wracks of weed - and hopefully big takes - the rod usually takes flight and the tripod doesnt flinch!!!
its main draw back is that its not as light say as the ian golds ones - but for rock marks on the west i would have more faith in it - maybe not for an hour trek to a particular mark your after though
as steve below said the fittings can get stiff - but that generally its because im a lazy b*****d who never washes down everything after a session

Re: mustad Super Deluxe Tripod
Yeah should have mentioned that
I'm a bit of a lazy B*****d that way too and never wash the tripod down,
It has taken some serious abuse from me and is still in great nick and the fittings move well with WD-40

Re: mustad Super Deluxe Tripod
thanks for the advice steveoel and corbyeire.
seeing that i do most of my fishing on rock marks in windy conditions and being a bit of a lazy B*****d as well i think i will invest in it,i don't mind the extra weight when its a good sturdy tripod, the one i looked at looked good and strong
