disposable scales

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

disposable scales

#1 Post by JOHN1 »

i was going to spain the week before last ,i decidet to weigh the cases on my
SALTER ELECTRO SAMSON and to my surprise it wouldent turn on so i put in new battery still no power.
when i came back.
i gave salter uk a ring to arrange a service or whatever they suggested, not in any way helpfull  they didnt want to know point blank.
they actually said the salter brecknell electro samson was a disposable scales with no serviceable parts nothing they could do  . 130 euro disposable scales why dont they put that on the package.

so with nothing to lose i opend it up and found the problem a ribbon going from the touch buttons 2 circut board had a dry joint problem sorted.

just in case any of you experiance same problems might save you a phone call.

i brought a berkley set in today to get certified and asked the guy what they were like in gereral. he said they hadnt done a whole lot of ones like mine so couldnt say but if he was to recomend a set, it would be a salter electro samson. he reckoned every time a set came back for a new yearly cert they were mostly still bang on and rarely failed any.

The touch pad is the weak link....They go eventually. Have had a couple go this way, even after repair they eventually gave up completely. Shame as they are otherwise a cracker. But after five years I suppose it owes you little!
