Fairplay for giving it a go.

I've never had much to show for my efforts on the beach

But I know lads that have

I'm told it seems to fish better mid/late summer......

hard to beat a 3 hook flapper on that beach unless you are fishing a single big bait for bass. should be flounder about. personally any time i fished there with a nice surf the fishing was bad. low water seems best with about two hours up seeing the fishing dieing a little. lobbing into the gulleys works well.

we fished there with flappers last year and the few locals we got chattin to all reckoned all the bass they saw taken from there and bettystown were on surface poppers :| :| :| :| they did'nt rate bait fishing at all, and just to prove their point we blanked too

i have only fished the beach at laytown all clean ground stuff... bait has seen some good bass taken here. nice spot to go flounder fishing and if a bass turns up well and good. it can fish when there is no surf too.

is that so chum. all i can comment on is my own experience from fishing those marks and from talking to locals who live in those towns and fish it regularly (and yes their chosen method is surface poppers). as i've watched them do so. no one said you can't catch on flapper rigs there. but the highest success comes from poppers. all i was saying friend,,,,,,,, no one was, or is TALKING CRAP :x

in that case keith, no offence taken man. just crossed wires   i was refering to the just the bass. we fished the mornington end of the beach and had no luck ourselves on bait but others seemed to have better luck spinning and popping at that spot and at the mouth of the boyne on the breakwater. we would see charlie fish it quite a bit at the golf course and he is always spinning or on poppers as he reckons it's the buisness. i've had a pint (or 10) with him in mc donagh's on a few occasions and he reckons that's the best method. that's why the talking crap remark got my back up a bit mate. but like i said, in that case no offence taken :)

Cool Alan it was a harsh comment I made anyway and I was kinda refering to Laytown only as the other end is Bettystown and mornington :)
