clifden bay co galway 10 may 2009

People:myself

Duration:17.30 to 22.00

Tide:high 18.45 4.9m

Weather:bright sunny day with a light breeze from the west

Bait:crab,sand eel,squid,razor fish

Rigs:3 hook flapper,pulley,

Results:4 dog fish 1 crab




Report:squid and sand eel worked best
seen a lot of fish jumping out of the water as well,maybe sea trout
met another angler who was trying feathers for mackerel and pollack but had no luck

strange looking crab to me,not the usual crab i get,this crab walked side ways,its body was six inch long
any one know what type it is?

2012 species: Thornback, bull huss, Dogfish, pollack, Mackerel, bass, flounder, turbot, conger,

most of the crabs i have seen walk more forward then side ways with their claws in the air when aggressive this lad didn't

might even get out myself on Friday to try that mark,high tide is at 22.08 best time to try for a ray is between 17.00 and 21.00
taking a break from the rays,got very tired last year from reeling in so many last year :lol: :lol:

i did think the crab was from sellafield it was the strangest crab i ever seen,the dogs were a bit smaller then normal but put up a great fight even one of them managed to wrap around my hand while unhooking it,took a layer of skin off :cry: :cry: still was happy with the days fishing
