People: Choco and Eoin
Duration: 1730 - 2300
Tide: full moon spring tide @ 2100
Weather: SW'ly 4 becoming W'ly 2 by end
Bait: Rag , soft and peeler crabs
Rigs: 2 hook flapper and a 1 hook paternoster
Results: 1 of the smallest flat fish to ever be caught and one 49 cm Bass.
Report: arrived at the beach with a fairly strong surf running , there were two guys fishing already the weed was making life difficult and nothing caught. We set up our gear and found that the weed coupled with the conditions were making bite detection near on impossible. Conditions and weed situation improved as the tide flooded. One of the 2 men to my left caught 2 nice bass inside half an hour must been about 1900, they then packed up and left. loads of others arrived for the night then, way down from me.
I hooked into the bass about 2000 hrs, it jumped clear of the water at least twice on the fight in and beached him with on a wave breaking onto the shore. The bass took Rag and soft crab cocktail. I was delighted with it.. There were times I taught I should have dug Lug but I get fairly decent rag at my local spot so its worth bearing in mind rag and crab , it also left me open to a chance of a smoothound which I have never taken off the shore. BTW where are the smoothound this year?
The wind is due to go North Eastely over next 24 hours which may give a gentle surf on some of north co dublin hot spots , thats where the left over crab will go.. Great to see a recent report in Dublin with a Bass taken well done lads, might see yous out there!
All in all lovely evening my new north * lamp worked a treat and hopefully will keep me night fishing for the next good few years.

, the only thing what's worrying me is the price of petrol rising again
got used to my "free to use" solar powered light
