Hi folks, back from fishing last night down by Passage East, and caught a tagged codling, (along with other fish), and after a bit of research, I found this.
http://www.marine.ie/home/aboutus/newsr ... +Chips.htm
were they discuss a cod tagging program for research.
Does any one know someone at Fisheries so that programs like this can be advertised on web sites like this, as more knowledge of these programs would help ensure better data gathering. Ie, the poor little codling I caught was hooked badly through the gills, with a lot of blood, so he was dispatched and given to the Mother Inlaw for dinner, before my research indicated he was to be kept for pickup by the Marine offices.
So just a heads up, catch a tagged cod or codling, please call the number immediately, as they want the fish ( with a reward given)

Im fairly sure all the clubs know about this and have been contacted.
If your keeping the fish and your around the Waterford area there is port sampler in dunmore who you could drop it into and he will look after it.
If its to small and you put it back all they want is lenght weight and where you caught it alot of them have been tagged in the waterford estuary in the last month so I say a few will be caught.
