Storage options please?

#1 Post by 10 brownie points »

This isn't a tip, but looking for general info, do any of you guy's use a capped Pipe strapped to the roof rack of your car to transport your rods around the country, any tips on size, construction, security etc?
Also thinking of permanently securing one under the mobile home to store them at weekends as the wife get a little upset when I bring them into the mobile home with the bait still on them  , and no matter where I store them they are always at risk of being crushed or broken. Storage options please?

a few years back i used to use a 4in wavin for my boat rods capped on both ends front end rivited shut and the back end drilled at an angle so you could put a padlock on so it couldnt be twisted off.

held onto roof rack with stainless jubileee clips very large ones from truck service centres.
im sure you could use galvoband instead

just an idea whats on the market, but a cheaper diy one are about, ie drain pipe cut to length and sealed at one end and a removable bung at the other, tie to roof bars using bungy cords

i have a wavin pipe which gets used if the rods have to go on a roof rack, just tye them down with a few bungee chords so its not permanent, and i'm sure it would be easy to secure one to the mobile and put a lockable cap on it, mine has taken quite a few falls and bashes with rods still inside and only a few minor scratches to the tube but rods are fine
