Limerick, 26-Apiril-2009

People:Me

Duration:12:30pm till 4pm

Tide:13:11 (0.4m) 19:29 (5.1m)

Weather: Grande Soft day. No wind where I was.

Bait:Frozen mack and squid

Rigs: 2/0 2 hook golds mushroom clip down and 3/0 2/0 penel clip down. 4/0 penel ledger

Results:
4lb ray to Golds on top hook as usual for here
7lb ray to clip down

Report: Blanked on my last two outings, to first carrigaholt and then to Ennereilly and was gutted so didn't get around to reporting. Used golds and penel 50/50 on the time. Weed in the water and often pulled the mainline into the weed/rocks close in until the tide pushed the weed away. Had a rig stuck 5 yards out due to this around half 2 With the leader back to the reel. Then my second rod went slack weed pulling the line into the same snags. I pulled the first rod for the break losing by shock link.

The second rods line was wrapped around rock and weed so had to pull extra hard but I could feel a fish on which got stuck close in. Eventually pulled the ray out of the snag after constant pressure angled this way and that.

Had another bite before 3pm on the same rod but struck into nothing even though a left it for the minute. Next cast gave the small bite so left the rod tap away for a few minutes giving a belter of a fight all the way in but the fish stayed high in the water surfacing 20 yards out over the snags through it did make a dash to be tangled in with my second rod.

Inicidently found evidence of this mark being fished by others recently. There were foot marks up from where I was, with a lost rig but no lead (I followed the line hoping for an extra one but only got a clip down mushroom rig). We don't fish there as the rocks slice the mainline.

Hi Dbrock

If theres a group coming down a weekend you should meet up with the Limerick lads. I don't like that mark for more than 2 though and I prefer 1 as there seems to be one key spot that picks up most of the fish.

Donagh

Ps Checked my scales last night and in perfect order.
