4 is the standard...all depends how fast you want the reel to run...i run mine with 2 mags and yellow rf...considering dropping it down to 1 mag but that will be living on the edge as regards birdie's.

have a few to spare(98) they are 9mm x 1mm they fit the 5500 probably fit the 6500 as well,i had to put 4 in the 2 holes,holes were 9 mm x 2 mm if they suit send me your address
