Report:dug some lug and rag in sutton earlier in the day( That was an education in itself,, as i met a marine biologist who was getting food for his flatfish and who showed me all kinds of creatures in the pools ,, pipefish, sea scorpions, blennys, etc,

)so headed to Greystones for a few hours in the hope of catching well,,,,,,anything at all really!. I had thought about wrasse, but maybe its a bit early and the sea was crashing into the rocks so i knew my mini rigs wouldnt stand a chance. I set up and cast out a 3 hook flapper baited with rag, tipped with mack. I set the small rod up and cast out a small 1 hook rig about 30 yds or so. While i was setting this rod up i got a good knock on the first rod, which turned out to be a coalie,,,great result for the first cast and a good sign

. I got a steady flow of bites all evening, which were mainly whiting, and i lost a dog ( forgot to put his photo up in the local shop

) trying to land him on the rocks. I was kept pretty busy all evening, and even got a bit of fishing in , in between answering questions from the tourists ("what are you fishing for?",,,,,they asked,,,",eh,,,,,,, ,,,,
FISH
", was my reply,,,shouldnt be so sarcastic

),,,,,and telling other peoples kids not to go too near the edge

..I got a coalie and three whiting during daylight, which is the most i've gotten during daylight so far this year, whatever that says

. All baits seemed to work, but later on the mack was being stripped from the hooks and the worms left on

,,,after all my digging

. Big Mick rang to say he was on the way but he was held up fixing engines or something mechanical like that. His fishing has taken a back seat ,excuse the pun, as he's just bought a new racing stockcar, and i wondered how long it would take him to mention cars when he arrived. 10 seconds was the answer,,,,,,,,as he told me he was late " cos the lad that was selling the stockcar rang him and he couldnt get off the phone". He neednt have bothered coming out as he blanked,,,but at least i saw a doggie on the end of his line at one stage. Unfortunately the doggie dropped off coming up the rocks. I got a dog on mack just before i left, which was a nice bonus. He curled himself up into a nice ball, which was handy as i just had to roll him back in

(only kidding by the way

). This mark fished better for me last week on the first few hours of a rising tide, but there was a full moon out. I wonder how long i'd have to stay here in order to get squatters rights
