Ship radio licence

#1 Post by Dave Jolly »

I have a U.K ships radio licence, along with my boats call sign and mmsi number, am I right in assuming that these are valid for use in all European waters, and I don't have to re-register in Ireland ?
I can't find a definite answer online.

Hi Dave,

Unfortunately you will need an Irish MMSI and Irish callsign which is basically an Irish radio license so you will need to get the MMSI number of your radio reprogrammed. You will need to have completed the Short Range Certificate (SRC) modules 1 and 2 before applying for your Irish license :D
