Cushendun Beach Easter Monday

#1 Post by JULIO RAGWORM »

sorry this is a bit late, been busy.....

People: Me, Kenny
Tide: Incoming
Duratuion: 4 Hours
Bait: Rag, Lug, Mack
Rigs: Allsorts
Results: Me- 2 doggies and a very small codling, Kenny 2 doggies

The tide was about 1.30 am, we arrived about 8.30pm and got set up, there wasnt a breath of wind so assumed that we would be inundated with doggies, but after the first cast I noticed the vibration on the rod tip which could only mean one thing CRABS!! We where tortured with them, i actually caught the codling on basically mackrel skin :P as the crabs had devoured the flesh. We ploughed on anyhow and the doggies started to feed and at least gave us something to do except rebait rigs. This beach needs a bit of swell to really fish well in my experience and think from now on thats the only time I will be fishing it.

Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.
