Bait in West Cork

#1 Post by Jules382 »

I have just driven many hours to get to Landers in Tralee, Kerry to get some bait for my freezer. Guess what, yup, they had sold out, they had no Macks or Sand Eels. just horrible frozen crab, squid and razor, as I live in Inchigeela, West Cork it is a major trip to undertake to find I can't get what I want. So, does anybody here know of anybody nearer to me who has a stock of decent, preferably fresh bait. Frozen is fine if no fresh available. I know the shop in Cork sometimes has bait, but thats a fair trek as well. Thanks in anticipation.

yeah, dan in the half way is good. should be about an hours drive/37 miles from you according to the aa roadwatch route planner. ring him before you leave tho. if he gets to know you he'll put them away when you ring for you to collect. he can get busy at the weekend and might have lots when you ring but could be wiped out by time you get there.
he could have frsh crab and frozen razor, mack and sand eel most days but fresh lug and rag are in fridays and usually gone by saturday.

another idea would be to ring kevin brain in waterville. he has a large stock of frozen bait and supplys a lot of tackle shops. he supposedly does good deals if you buy in bulk. itd be a bigger drive(about 2 hours/80miles) but if you buy a lot in one go it might be worth your while.
