fish i.d waterford

i was out in dunmore last year on a very low tide fishing off a rock near a gulley and a very big fish maybe 15lb or more came into the gulley i freelined a mack fillet close to his nose and he jusy ignored it he was silver with soft fins not like a bass but the fins had apink edge around them any ideas i think i might go back after him fairly sure it wasnt a bass
