Dollymount/Sutton from bull island

#1 Post by herefishyfishy »

Lads, i plan to fish here on Sunday with a pal of mine, we have always wondered about it. It will be from the bull island side into the channel from low to full tide. Just wondering if anyone has fished this lately or any opions on it. Do you know if the golf course mind you parking there and then walking up to the end to fish off the end of the island? Any info would be great and i will put up report once we have fished it. Havent being out in nearly a month so need to get out again.

At the moment i would say it will be pretty much dead, you could be in with a chance of a few flounder though. The best time to fish here is from late summer to Autumn from low water up. But in saying that you never know unless you try! :D

Do you think i could stand at the tee box and have a cast onto the green on a par three i'm sure i get closer than i would with a golf ball   I just hope it all goes to plan as the lad i'm going with has left me high and dry a few times lately when going fishing. So let hope he goes this time.

As Brian said, the crabs are a nightmare up there.

Fished it 3 times last year (late summer), and got 2 small bass only.

I've seen small flounder, and mini species in the pools on the sutton side when I've been collecting bait, so there should be flounder in the channel, but its hard to keep a bait on the hook long enough to give yourself a chance.

I'd say it could be a handy spot for a bit of lure fishing maybe, but I havent tried it myself.

The tide fairly races in there, so be very, very careful, best to fish in daylight for your 1st time, just so you can see whats happening around you.

I've found its only really possible to fish 2 or 3 hours eitherside of low water to give you the chance to fish into the channel.

Good luck with it though, make sure you post a report when you've fished, be interesting to see how you get on.

there's a fairly decent colony of seals that live there, so surely that would suggest a decent food source near enough to there....
