West Cork April 2009 Boar or Shore fishing

Can anyone advise me regarding Salt Water fishing in the West Cork area in mid April 2009.
There are charters available but to an individual they are too expensive (500 Euro) for just one person. Is there any party boats operating in West Cork this time of the year which will throw strangers together on a boat. Do skippers even run charters at this time of the year ? If not then where would you recommend a novice to the area should go to try out light tackle shore fishing with Kastmasters and spoons ? Any info or even a list of links which would help me narrow my search would be greatly appreciated. I'm home for a a visit (wedding) and I can't waste time getting to know a place so please help if you can.
