conger off Liscannor?

Just out of curiousity, has anyone on here ever bagged a conger off Liscannor Pier?

Yes...

It was donkeys years ago but only straps, with the best topping out at c 2 kilos.

I've never tried in the harbour itself but there are bound to be a few resident fish especially in the older western walls. I heard rumours about trigger fish too but only rumours...

You have to fish into the foul ground facing the bay rather than the new section which faces exclusively onto sand and is now quite shallow. You get wrasse there is summer and can pick up small to medium pollack, macks, the odd coalfish, and dogs at night on slacker tides...

Tackle graveyard mind, bring the rotten bottom links and junk leads.

Most people float fish for the other species and it does get quite deep, especially around HW

Hey Ciaran,
Yes that is helpful, I've killed a few hours there from time to time, had a day where i couldn;t keep the float in the water for more than 20 secs without a wrasse tryin to drag it off =o)
But was jsut wondering if there was any aul eels about, as tend to stay in or around lahinch, and as such, don't fancy the trek back from carrigaholt at 2am after battlin conger off the pier there..

Hi Daire

Hooked an 18lber to the right of the pillars off the pier about 2 years ago, it gave one hell of a fight. There are definatley some big ones lurking around

great, I'll bear that in mind next time...
I'm off that way next saturday, gonna get 2 sessions in, one daytime, and one night... so just have to decide where and what species... am thinkin day flood at cregg , the stream, fro flounder and such, then the night on lahinch strand, for night time basssssssssssss...
or perhaps inagh estaury daytime, and liscannor conger hunt that night...

As you are driving from lahinch to Liscanor, just after the pitch and putt course (dont park in the pitch and putt car park, made that mistake one day) there is a lay by to the left, park there go in over the ditch you will see the path walked out, gone down onto the estuary and veer left to what is the start of the rocky out crops, fish that on an incoming and work back up to the bridge as the tide hits high water, should give a result

Daire forgot to add to the post, i would definately try liscanor for the Conger at night, theres a big un waiting there for catching,
