was told to use a similar rig before by a bloke it was pretty much the same i used a mepps spinner with a very short hooklength size 8 hook with single maddie it didnt work for me that day but that dont mean it wont work.
anyone else try this???????

didnt John Wilson catch some thin lips on something like that using rag as bait (spinning) on one of his shows years ago......

duno m8 to be honest...i tried it only once in wexford harbour but defo have to try it this summer again seems effective in certain areas...well i hope it is

Thanks for the replies, did a bit of reading on this and some anglers swear by this method. They suggested buying trout mepps and replacing the treble hooks with a size 8 or so as stated by gd and baiting it with a harbour rag. So i've bought myself half a dozen trout mepps. Probably be a good month before the mullet arrive at kinnegar, holywood where i target them. Fingers crossed i have something to report. Also been told if you let the mepp sink to the bottom and spin very slowly its deadly for flounder.
