not sure how that area is fishing at the moment, but drop 'fenitbob' a PM, he's around that area, even though he is away in lanzagrotty at the moment (dunno when he's back), but i'm sure he and a few other locals from the site will give you a helping hand.

and welcome to the site

Hi Steve

Black Rock around Banna is good and Kerry head fishes well, Good size conger on the pier in Fenit, The Cashan over by ballybunnion is also good. As Dunner said Castle G is also very good.

Hi! welcome to gods own country :D as the name suggests I do alot of fishing in fenit the pier can be good in calm weather if its rough the fish seem to move off. there is also fenit island which has one or 2 rock marks that can be fished without trespassing it has become a bit of an issue there in the last couple of years.

remember you have all the dingle peninsula to work through too

theres inch Rossbeigh kells and then down into waterville and derrynane so there is plenty of scope for exploration

there are loads of if its not you can try the beaches along the south side of tralee bay and brandon bay depending on who you talk to the best bait for these beaches is Lug sandeel or lug tipped with mackeral.

Landers world of leisure in tralee has a book called 'wetting a line in Tralee bay' which is informative the bob moss books are good too for the dingle peninsula.

What part of kerry you in?

Have fished Fenit pier with very mixed results, Is there any bait or rig that works well there??
Usually use mackeral and basic wishbone or sea rig.

I done well with a wire trace and a mackerel flapper towards the rocks at the end of the bridge facing the light house, good size conger there. As Fenitbob said it is well worth checking out landers, i am not local but found the lads in Landers good for info

hows the going man.
as usual the lads are spot on drop into landers and colm is the man to speak to.
he's usually got the latest news before the rest of us!
if you really fancy picking up some knowledge you should think about joining
tralee bay sea angling club. we have a good few new members this year so almost everyone is making the effort to share a bit of info when the chance arises.

they should all work fine I only ever use pater-noster and the odd ledgering rig . I use floats for mackeral fishing.

lugs are good mackeral when fresh or properly frozen is good too

Try fishing at night when the the pier quietens down.

If there are enough around we should try a meet. some night when the weather is warmer.

Shamed once more by the fact that i have to ask this question!!

What is a ledgering rig??? anyone tell me a good place to see pictures of rigs or tips for building as i have started to try and make my own. As you can imagine its like trying to reinvent the wheel as im still learning loads.

Sounds like a great idea to try and get a bit of a meet together. i'll be plauging ye for tips and info.

Thanks for the patience,

Steve
