shark / tope fishing in SW in April

#1 Post by kieran »

Hi

Have an email in from a travel agent.
They have four people from continental europe who want to do SHARK fishing in the SW (flying into Cork) in April. It has to be sharks!

Explained about Tope and they're happy enough with that but not happy to go to the Shannon so if there is a charter skipper whose confident they can put four amateurs over Tope or SHARKS  in April in the Cork Kerry area, then let me know

PM or here

Cheers
Kieran Hanrahan

It would have to be Shannon - Luke Ashton or
Wexford - Courtown Angling.

Let's get back on the topic. :x
Shark fishing off the Cork coast will not get going until mid July with the best months been August and September. :D

What's the sence of spoofing off rubbish when these people are going to spend a lot of money coming over here. :( :(

I'm not into the tope fishing in the Shannon but if someone have some genuine replys please post them.

These people have been mislead somewhere along the line it's up to us on SAI to put them on the right track.

Thanks lads and Donal

Yeah, I did reckon the Beal Bar would be their best bet in and around the Shannon - they think its only a river  Anyhow I will drop Luke a line and see if we can fix it up

Cheers

Hi Donal,

I don't think anyone on here is misleading them.. the problem seems to be the usual one where a travel agent has offered them shark fishing not having done any research on the subject! None of us will be able to put them on the right track because it is only a travel agent that has asked Kieran to recommend someone. I get similar inquiries for sharking at the worst possible times of year regularly from agents.

Kieran it would be better not to give a price, but get Luke to contact the agent or the agent to contat Luke because agents will probably be looking for booking agent commission and airport transfers etc.

That might not be the best idea either Jim unless we can tell what experience level these anglers are you may give them false expectations, and put pressure on Luke when they turn out to have been first time anglers which is very often the case with travel agents  You may well find a general angling trip for the usual species may well be what best suits the anglers in question! Best to let Luke talk to the agent himself

That still doesn't mean they possibly have never set foot on a boat in their life, believe me I get guys regularly talking sharks and great whites through agents and when they get here I end up having to take mackerel off the hooks for them because they are afraid of them, then they all get sea sick  An agent is a completely different ball game to anglers asking questions.. Would you let an average travel agent in Cork City organise an angling trip for you abroad working out every detail Jim

Of coarse they are happy with Tope, but do they or the agent know what a tope is I wonder?
