Hi steve

I'm not an expert in the area but as I understand it there is a known mark at the mouth of a deeper channel that leads into the bay. I'm not so sure about the list of fish you've been offered, seems a bit excessive, but certainly there are cod and pollack around there. As most of the bay is quite shallow, as you have doubtless discovered, uptiding off an anchored boat is a key skill for this area. Boat and anchor noise is a big issue and you need to uptide rather than downtide to outcast the scare area... and whilst I am at it, the seals are a real problem around the lighthouse! There are some excellent marks further up towards Erris Head that will give you dabs, megrim and haddock, yes haddock I kid you not. Feel free to drop me a line if you are looking for a buddy, I live just outside Castlebar so its about an hour trip up for me... I will get a man called Sean to drop you a line if you send me your email address. If anyone knows marks for you, he will. Good luck.

there is a few reefs off the light house that are not marked on the charts and are packed with pollack but i think the mark you heard about are the ripps off erris hd super fishing to be had there but i would not recomend it if your not experienced or if your boat it not capable of heading off shore as its not the place to be if the weather turn on you,,,, :x
