Me
Lug, Mack, Squid
2 hook clip ups, flattie rigs, Double hook paternoster clip down.
Hit the beach first was still bright enough, two rods out but nothing going on and i felt a bit out of my element on the sand so packed and went around to the steps. Had the flattie rig out in the mini bay there and was hoping for my first dab of 09! The the paternoster out far with a big load of lug, squid, mack cocktail. I was worried about blanking but it was still early evening but the whiting still hadn't showed. Got a big knock on the rod and I was delighted to land quite a large doggie, How I missed these fellahs. Nothing then for a while except three 11 year old lads coming down and asking me a million questions about fishing and the general meaning of life. Got a knock then on the other rod and I thought I was in for my dab. A coalfish of all things, Im nearly certain, Not a whiting but Ill have to wait until I get my disposable developed. The three lads had a "turn" examining the fish before it went happily on its way. They had originally wanted me to cut it open to see inside it but I explained the whole C&R theory to them and they were happy enough, I said if you caught a kitten you wouldn't cut it up, one of them would've! Waited for the whiting onslaught but it never came. Then the hunger wind and rain got the better of me so I fecked off. Anyways, New species to the list. I could do with a few tips for the dabs, They're not interested in any of my baits,Maybe my rigs are too flashy!

Any lug you have leftover, put it in a tupperware container or similar until the following weekend. It will smell rank but the dabs will go mad for it. Keep it on the roof of your shed or under a bucket in the garden!
At least the whiting are gone
