Carrigaholt, Co. Clare, 8-march-2008

#1 Post by Donagh »

People:9 anglers Shannon town AC

Duration:12pm till 4pm

Tide:9:43 (0.9m) 16:03 (4.6m)

Weather:Changable sun and showers with cold moderate westerly. Surf at times on the beach

Bait:I used fresh mackerel

Rigs:I used 2 hook and three hook golds size 2s.

Results: Dogs but tin on the ground

Report: Was snowing and hail this morning but had to get out after not being out since January. Comp was moved from kilkee due to the blusterly cold westerly and the weed on the beach. I got two dogs (0.5 and 0.9) for second with the two hook golds hit out a bit in the first two hours 20 yards up from the start of the wall. I was hitting father latter on fishing off the road ,as I got back into the swing of things, with a three hook golds but no bites. Tom O'S had two 0.9 dogs at the other end of the beach to win. Rest of the Lads tried all distances but no fish. With March and bad conditions it's no suprising. Roll on April

Well done on being placed Donagh,

I been thinking of joining another club this year and yours seem to fish a lot of marks around the Clare area which would suit me,

Is your club affiliated with the IFSA… I got talking with one of your members about 3 years back and he invited me to a match somewhere around the “Wreck” I think that was the place he said… I wasn’t going to be fishing on the day as all I wanted to do is see how things got run,

Is the club membership by “invite only” or can anyone join ?

Its just that I need the extra push to get out and wet the line at the moment so I think being in a club would get me going again,

Not in the IFSA as the fees were to much of a burden but the club has insurance. 30 euro membership goes towards this and prizes for members for the year.

I'd suggest turning up and fishing a comp. I'll pass on my number and you can ring me to talk about it. Carrigaholt the 5th of Apiril is the next comp. 10 euro to enter and 2 euro biggest fish.

Donagh I replied to your PM before I seen this so most of what I asked in my reply has been answered already above,

If I can kidnap Gearoid and get him to teach me how to get a bit of distance when casting before April as I know distance is needed around Carrigaholt… I will try meet up with ye there,

He’s a hard man to get lessons from… I even got him to Waterford and put him on a crap mark where I thought he would get bored from the lack of fish and would teach me a few tricks just to kill time but I gave up when I seen him catch a fish or two every cast… he makes me sick,

I tell a lie… he actually caught nothing on the last cast of the day / night, Shame
