People:me and Neil

Duration:6-10.30pm

Tide:rising

Weather:gale force winds, rain, clearing later

Bait:lug,mack,squid.

Rigs:flappers and pulley rigs

Results:whiting and rockling

Report:Fished the end near the car park. Weather was bad,, and it was a job and a half to set up the shelter but when it was up things were a lot more bearable. The wind was howling so detecting bites was out of the question. I cast out and ran back to the beach buddy for shelter,,,what a great invention    Everything was spread out neatly beside me and it was quite comfortable ,,,i peeked my head out every now and again and had to get out once to pile more stones against it to hold it down,,,, but it stood the test  . Reeled in the first cast and there were 3 whiting on it, lug and mack on the first 2 hooks and just mack on the 3rd,,didnt seem to matter. hooks were 2'0's with size 1's on one of my rigs . 2nd cast another whiting and so it went all night. Neil arrived at 7-30pm and set up and soon had a double of rockling ,, followed by more whiting. We were getting plenty of fish but no decent ones'. At one stage i got a good tug on the line, and with that wind that was blowing i thought that it must be a decent fish, but it turned out to be another whiting, 25cms.Then the rain came   .Neil said that" this weather would seperate the men from the boys"  ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,shortly after Neil left   Funny enough it cleared up a while later and was quite pleasant out. I thought there might be some doggies about and stayed on a bit longer but alas only whiting. On the last 3 casts (with the same bait  ) i had a whiting on the bottom hook as i reeled in ,,even though there was only a tiny scrap on it and the other two hooks fully baited were untouched   Enjoyable evening even though it was just whiting,,,i would have stayed longer only i ran out of bait,, ah well at least i gave it a go down there,,i've never had much luck there  .

Who needs a beach buddy when you have the imax floatation suit Neil  . The L1 is great, but i didnt want to review it after the first nights use. It seems good so far, far superior to the energiser i had been using, though i miss the red light and have this as a backup.Came in handy for finding your knife when you lost it,eh!!. The glow weights sure do glow, maybe you should paint your knife with the same stuff  I wonder if you dipped the hooks in it would that work??
