tuna wars

#1 Post by roger de dodger »

anyone see this program? fishing aussie style ,i felt a bit sorry for the tuna they seem a bit like sheep one just follows t,uther  the sums of money mentioned where colosal  multi million dollar catches ,was glad to see the fisheries officers making sure everthing was kept to quota ,they let the fish out of a transport net into a holding net and recorded the fish passing through then watched the tape in slow motion to count every fish  one tuna has to eat 10 kg of fish to put on 1 kg of weight they purchased over 300000 dollars worth of sardines just to fatten them up for the jap market ,very well made program with some stunning footage

i think its on dave or dmax. quality show a bit hairy when they have to dive in after sharks to wrestle them out, or watch when fixing the nets that the downforce from the fish pushes them to the bottom. hairy stuff mazing the coordination the three boats have.

Wasnt a bad show, it was a while ago from what i remember, seeing the tuna kept in huge nets like salmon. But not being farmed but rounding up wild tuna, now the mediterranean has hardly any tuna, its sad the way things are going!
