Report: The second club outing of the year for Galway Bay SAC 8 anglers had to contend with patchy rain and wind from the SW which was gusting strong at times and put paid to one of the lads umberellas, the wind died off as the afternoon went on and MOST had no problems holding bottom as there was no weed present. Early catches of Flounder and Turbot lifted the spirits but the fishing was to prove tough with long periods passing between fish. Papa Smurf and Handbrake Hynes stayed on as the last of us departed to take in the Rugby. Some of the lads have some pics to add....

the maddies and the rag proved to be the quirky attractant at the start unfamiliar to these local flatties - but that was it for the first 2-3 hours - mark had 4 fish on the first four casts! i had 1!
then as the water turned to come back in a few more showed we thought we were in to lots but it was a false dawn and then nothing again
good to get out on this beach for a bit of craic and not to fish a competition as usual
