The LIDL Fishing Stuff is Coming!

#1 Post by uvox »

Since there was a few questions as to when this is every year....

A perennial favourite, worth looking in, if only for a laugh and the chance of the odd bargain.

From Monday 3 March:

Note: I have no professional association with Lidl. Everyone knows I work in Aldi.

Wow, cutting edge fibreglass rod technology  and it even comes with a sea bed weight and a swivel.

Actually the starlights might be worth a look, 50 for €4 can't be bad.

Don't see their fly rods listed this year. Pity that, because they're actually quite a good rod for the price of them.

True enough, will get a few of those. The stuff sells out pretty quickly. I may need to camp outside the night before...:)

hold on guys dont be so quick to judge this stuff, i know its not top quality.
however i started fishing 2 years ago and the first rod i bought was one of the lidl trout sets, i was taken out the next day by a mate from work and shown a few things and i have loved fishing from the second i cast that rod out. they may not be great but if they'r cheap they might encourage people to get out and learn. im glad i bought one as i woulndt dream of buying an expensive rod as my first in case i didnt use it.
now im fishing 2 years and starting to get into sea fishing more this year

Lads I bought shed loads of gear last year so here show they held up after 12 months.

The boat road, The rod unbreakable but the reel broke first trip, I've been using the line for making traces all year. You could get a far superior combo for around €70 in most shops. Do not buy unless you have a spare reel lying around.

The small telescopic trout rod around €15. Great light rod, Has got me trout, perch, wrasse and almost a pike on the Shannon, Excellent one for the kids or to have or keep in your car. Great light sport and comes with some great accessories

Pier style (pilk) spinning rod. One of the combos. Great rod, has and excellent cast. The reel not great but will last the year. Excellent accessories. One of the lads used his out on the boat all day too.

Fly rod, was €35 broke (but it was stood on) and caught me no fish. GGGrrrrrr

I got a carp rod which I have been using for sea shore spinning and bottom fishing, Caught a pike on it in Ramor and its so light dogfish feel like Tope!

All the accessory boxes are an unbelievable bargain, Just know which ones you want. Kept me in beads, swivels etc etc etc for almost the year, Im buying more this year.

The ling up to 14kg. The price is right but they stretch far too much and I debate the actual strength, Worth getting for back up maybe

I bought the rib dinghy and my Dads been out and about on it to and from the boat all year. Pity its not back it was an unbelievable bargain!

The waders. Mine are still waterproof! My friends leaked, but he could've fixed em. Not suitable for surf but would do you no harm in a calm river or on the lake

For me this year Ill prob get line, a lot of the boxes and maybe the beech caster, I shelled a lot of money for a beach caster this time last year and it broke and almost decapitated my friend, In the same session he broke his lidl beach caster, I bought an Aldi one later on in the year and I imagine they're of a similar quality, I let a friend borrow that and that broke but I don't know what the circumstances were ???????

Thats my two cents anyway and I am in no way affiliated with Lidl except that I love the chorizo they sell. I for one am glad the stuffs back because I have spent some serious cash during the year and its always good for picking up bits a pieces. Sometimes with the rods its hit and miss, people have mixed experiences

I was sorry to hear that. The depth finder on the reel would have been handy for wrasse over rough ground from kayak.

I think i'm going to get some cheap ,disposable, light outfits for kayak fishing this year.

Like I said it might last you, My buddys one never broke and we had about 5 or so sessions some heavy enough, I took mine apart a million times and I couldn't even figure out what was wrong with it. And Lidl never ask questions about returning items but I never bothered, Pre recession I suppose! You could get a reel with depth counter for around €40 on ebay Im sure

so theyve an eel rod for sale - whats the new legislation again

http://www.lidl.ie/IE/home.nsf/pages/c. ... ishingSets

have to say the boxes of end tackle are great value

the line is way too stretchy alright not good quality at all

have the pilk rod and has a great cast out of it for what it is - hardy rod but will show up some smaller stuff - great craic fishing for dogs with it when a pack is in with the rod in hand - reel still going - great to have in the back of the car for an impromptu session

the trout/pirch rod is in the back of the car also - caught sea trout/bass on it - mind you a 3lber broke the tip section on it but no bother!

it is what it is at the end of the day - cheap but handy
