East Cork Beach, 22/02/2009

#1 Post by thescotsman »

People: me and petekd

Duration: 20:30-22:45

Tide: around LW

Weather: very calm and mild

Bait: razor, lug, mack

Rigs: 3 hook flappers, pulleys

Results: 2 shore rockling and a small flounder to Pete, one shore rockling to me

Report:

After a poor start to my fishing year in terms of results (already blanked more times this year than the whole of last year) and my ability to get out and fish (spent the whole weekend trying to get a chance to get out in my boat and had to settle for a quick shore session instead).
We decided on an East Cork beach, checking out one that didn't meet our fancy and headed to another one where we setup. First cast I was into a shore rockling, so already my best trip this year pretty much. Nothing for me after that.
Pete left it a little longer before pulling in a small flounder (or was it another scaldfish  ) and then a double shot of rockling.

Looks like the Five Bearded Rocklings were out in force on Sunday night - maybe they prefer to feed in very calm conditions ?
Or maybe there was just not much else about due to the lack of surf.

Hopefully your luck will change from now to the end of the year :) :)
