People: Me (others there when arrived but they left shortly after)

Duration: bout 3.5hours

Tide:hw around 1am

Weather:grand boyy

Bait:lug, razor, mackerel, sandeel

Rigs:in line feeder, clipped pennell

Results: seatrout, rockling, and dropped a bass at the edge

Report:Was nice to get out and catch some seatrout off the beach. Got some 5 bearded rockling also and had a handy bass fall off at the edge. Not too bothered as I was goin to release it anyway. Was nice to watch the seatrout kelt swim back off into the sea too.

The fish fought ok to be fair. In reasonable condition but still a kelt so that affected the fight a little. Nice slack liner though. Dont mind about the bass fallin off. Would have taken a pic and released it anyway. At a guess I would say the bass was in the 3 to 4lbs range. Main thing is it was an enjoyable session.

How can you tell if it's a kelt? Does it look knackered?

Fairly well worn out.  Easiest way to tell is by the appearance of the fish. Kelts are fairly thin for quite a while until they are fully mended. I didnt weigh it, just measured it and put it back. Held it in the edge of the surf for a few minutes until it was ready and watched it saunter off back to sea.

Hi Stig whats the crack ??

The others that were fishing were Sandy, Hannah (my Daughter aged 12) and me. I had arranged with the Stig to meet up on the beech but i forgot to ask him what part of the beech to fish on

we arrived just after 18.00 and set up our gear.Rods were in the water around 18.30 and hopes were high :D :D by 19.00 with nothing happening Hannah started asking "what time is it"   now Hannah likes to go fishing and usually out fishes me but as she said this beach fishing is booooooring

SK had said to me that he wouldn't be there till after 21.00 so i was starting to think that this might be a long night.

we fished away and i think we fed every fish in Waterford but we caught nothing      and trust ME it was not for the want or trying.

Around 20.30 i heard a motorbike arriving and then seen an angler walk towards us but turn away (id swear i heard a laugh) he walked away towards our left. Hannah asked was that the ShorKing and i told here he was not due for another half an hour.

Then i got a text from the Stig and it said your in the wrong place.............. come over to where i am as your wasting your time there

we gathered up our gear and for the first time that night i seen Hannah smile :?: :?: and went over to SK.

Now Hannah by this stage had succeeded in getting here feet soaking wet and her sandwiches as she said had flies crawling all over them so things were going to well for me.

after our introductions we started to fish in earnest and straight away we started to get bights but no hook ups
Then as i said we must go the ShoreKing went over to Hannah and baited up her rod and then cast it out. he said to me give it a few mins and see what happens.

F**k me but didn't she get a 5 Bearded Rock ling around 18-19 cm. In the mean time Sandy was getting good bites from her rod but alas nothing became of it.

What the F**k is it with women's fermons that they catch all the fish ?????

By the way Stig how do you get all your gear on a bloody motorbike :?: :?:

Danny,

you BLANKER (Again! - Pat from Cork will be laughin!), I think ye might have had more look if you were over at the other mark on the beach sooner. I didn't have that much gear - I think???? I managed it grand on the bike. Mind you, think I'll take the car again on my next session - more comfort. :D
