donaghadee sunday 15th feb 09

#1 Post by Al and Jordan »

People: me and jordan

Duration: 8.30pm -12am

Tide: low to rising

Weather: dyr, cold, no wind

Bait: mack and dodgey rag

Rigs: 3 hook flappers

Results: ME: 3 POLLACK, 1 COALIE AND 1 SHORE ROCKLING. JORDAN: 1 POLLACK AND 1 SHORE ROCKLING.

Report: after an unsucessful trip to greys point we decided to give the dee a go as there was bait to be used up. i'll have to get to greys point again on my own. we were fishing the end of an outcrop of rocks which i would have been happy enough with myself, but it was a bit dodgey for jordan in the dark. the spot we scouted has potential, kelp and rocks in close and a sandy beach to the right. but i'll give it a rattle some night next week and post how i get on. so it was on to donaghadee    . we arrived to see the tide beginning to flood back in and cast 2 rods out each. another angler arrived and i got chatting to him. as we were talking jordan saw my rod get a knock and shouted to me and i told him if it hit it again he could strike into it. so jordan got the first fish of the session, a wee shore rockling :D :D :D . all in all it was pretty quiet, i got 3 wee pollack under 20cms and a shore rockling at the usual spot. but the highlight of the session was the coalie. i timid bite and a lot of slack line ended in me landing a nice 36cm, 1lb 5oz coalie. so a quick pic or 2 and a bump on the head for him ended the session. he looked the same size as the one dan got here a while ago but nowhere near the 3lb mark. dan mate, your 3lb'er must have been feeding on all the leads i've lost here lately        . but we were happy enough. so colin the coalie graced our plates today for lunch accompnied with some comber spuds cut into chunky chips     and dawsey it only dawned on me that you probably dug our spuds at the farm mate     all good craic, and i can't wait to get out again :P :P :P

Thats a nice Coalie Alan. Shame you didn't get a proper session at Greys Point, I was looking forward to the results.

it looks like a good mark that would throw up a good variety of fish. i'll have to give it a go when i get a new lantern and put in 12hrs overnight at it. like i said, it would be dodgy enough in the dark
