killiney beach 15/2/09

#1 Post by bigsod »

People:Carl Fox, Tony fella, hickey and myself

Duration:4:30 to 8

Tide:hw at 3ish

Weather:beautiful mild evening, no wind

Bait:lug, mack, sandeel, crab, mussel

Rigs:2 hook flappers and 2 hook loop rig

Results:small whiting

Report:

Arrived on the beach to find it full of people, like a day in summer.Met tony and had a chat then Carl and Roy arrived and the fishing began.
it was well into darkness when the first whiting started to show and bites werte slow to come by. most if not all the fish were under 20 cm.We tried all sorts of distances and baits but could not seem to find fish of decent size. At 8 we called it a night but vowed to meet up during the week to try another beach. Overall a disapointing session but great to meet 3 sound lads who all love their fishing and hopfuly we will have better luck next time.

Started doing the same myself after a couple of sessions were cut short for various reel related problems. :( I can tell you I was bloody glad of it at the weekend, I must have had a tangle or knot or something in the line from the previous session, anyway first gentle cast of a casting lesson no less resulted in a crack off mid cast and the mother of all over runs and a personal best for me  Thankfully I had a couple of other reels in the bag but I still got a deserved slagging for it.
