Wexford Friday 13th Feb 2009

#1 Post by Danny M. »

People:Myself and Carpets

Duration:4 Hours

Tide:Rise/ fall

Weather:Fresh/rain/warm

Bait:Lug

Rigs:Pennel Pulleys 4/0 / 3/0

Results:Myself 4 Bass & 1 Rockling
Carpets 2 Bass & 1 Coalie

Report:
Tried a new spot last night.
Surf was huge, 2nd cast I got a Bass just inside the sand bank. I got another soon after. Carpets picked up a coalie close in too. I put a bait out past the sand bank and was rewarded with a nice Bass. Carpets pulled in a bass soon after for distance. And lost one in the suds when a wave broke on him!
I got a nother Bass at distance and about 20 yards from the shore the rod buckled over in my hand and I thought I was into a Donkey of a Bass that was swimming towards and just woke up...A couple of shouts out of me ...the line went slack and a Bass appeared on the beach with Bite marks on the side of him!! something appears to have had grabbed it

All Bass were returned alive.

Until Next time 8)

Theres another 2 Friday the 13ths this Year to go :!:

I dont think it was a seal as the scales wernt penetrated.
They were noticeably marked alright.

But in sayint that it could have been anthing really !

I might have to live bait a small coalie the next time im there to see what happens.

top new location there will be big bass caught there in the coming months, but big fish mean big drives and long hikes looks like our nights out may turn in to weekends away if our predictions are right.. gonna fish 4 rods next time round endless possibilities to be had one mans own species list could be fullfilled there in one session.

Thats a mighty nights fishing fair play to ye.
A bad days fishing is better than a good day at work.
